The Art Cougar: January Exhibitions Generously Extended

Extra caring museums and art galleries of Russian capital are well aware that many Muscovites are still hiding from the cold in Thailand, or checking out the Fondazione Prada in Milan, so they extend the exhibitions for up to three weeks in January.

Just keep in mind that state museums are usually closed on Monday. Perhaps to compensate this, on Thursdays they work till 8PM or even 9PM.

Also expect some queues at the entrances with people awaiting their turn to absorb the art middays on weekends. So it is a good idea to get up before noon, break your fast (scrambled eggs with black truffles and homemade ricotta in a Pinch, egg Benedict in any CoffeeMania or check out Sveta’s blog) and you will be the first in the queue.

Mikhail Baryshnikov. Metaphysics of the Body

Moscow can’t get enough of the legendary dancer. The ballet genius appears before us once again in a sequence of fifty images exhibited in Russia for the first time.

Baryshnikov first invited photographer Robert Whitman to document his rehearsals back in 1995, and now these works are on display in a photo gallery at the Red October.

till January 22 at Lumiere Brothers Centre for Photography

And if you absolutely have to be in a museum on Monday, make your way through the snowy lanes of Gorky Park, straight to Garage.
